The children in Junior and Senior Infants have been busy.
It is the year of the tiger and we have been doing some wonderful colouring to create this fantastic tiger which we are so proud of.
We have also been learning lots about magnets in Science.
All the children dressed up brilliantly as characters from different books for World Book Day. They looked fantastic. We have been busy reading lots of new and exciting books recently.

The School- Aistear Theme
During September Aistear the Junior and Senior infants were busy exploring role play in their very own mini classroom. Role Play among childen is a fun way to learn and enhance useful skills in a child's development. The children also engaged in school themed playdough and pegboard activities to focus on fine motor skill development.
2019/2020
Sponsored Walk 2019
On the 27th of September we had our sponsored walk and everybody dressed up in their favorite costumes. Although it was raining earlier in the day, it cleared and we got our chance to go for the walk. Everybody really enjoyed it.
2019 Our garden
The sixth class came down to help our senior infants make their mark on the garden. We made a rainbow using our handprints to brighten up our garden. It is in full bloom now.

Junior infants were busy at work during their literacy stations where they were practicing their sounds, making their sight words and cvc words.

We made pizzas!
As we were inspired by the aistear station, we decided to make healthy pizzas today. We first wrote about the process of making a pizza and then we followed our steps from our writing and made the pizza! After we had a pizza party. It was a lot of fun!

We are learning all about what happens at a restaurant in role play station. The children are taking turns in being customers, managers, chefs, waiters and delivery drivers. We are also leaving about money in maths to help us in the role play station when buying and selling pizzas.

Garden centre opens in the infants room:
During Aistear this month we are learning all about flowers and how seeds grow. In the garden centre we are selling flowers, planting seeds and maintaining the garden. We have planted many seeds including cress seeds, spring onions, radishes, rocket lettuce and thyme. We also planted some flowers and herbs in our new garden. Thank you so much to Eileen for all her hard work on the garden outside our classroom.
Engineers week 4th-8th March
This week the infants have been learning all about engineers. The children got involved in lots of engineering tasks in the classroom. This included using different materials to build bridges for the teddy bears to cross the rivers and making 'The Cat in the Hats' hat out of card and red cups.

Aistear
Junior and Senior Infants have a new role play corner for Aistear this week. They are learning all about the people who work in a post office. They are selling envelopes and stamps, delivering mail, weighing parcels and sorting post. In the free writing corner this week the children are learning to write postcards. They are putting addresses and stamps on them before they send them off in the post box.

Ready Set Go Maths
The Junior and Senior Infants have started a new maths programme called Ready Set Go maths. It is a practical maths programme that includes a range of learning approaches aimed to develop key mathematical concepts such as sorting, counting and number recognition. World Book Day - March 1st
In the infants room today, all the children dressed up wonderfully as characters from different books. They looked fantastic. To celebrate world book day we all read the books in which our costumes were from. We also read some books with our reading buddies from the fourth, fifth and sixth classroom. To end the day, the children received certificates for all their amazing reading throughout the day.
A special visitor - March 4th
Today a very special visitor came into the infants room; The Local Postman. The children asked lots of questions about how he delivered his post and was it the same way that we deliver ours in our Aistear corner.
