June 2023 Events
Fun Times Ahead!
We have lots of exciting events happening in the next few weeks, from Sports Day to Bake Sales. You'll find all of the details here!
Student Council Bake Sale
The Student Council is running a bake sale next Thursday for the pupils. This will be done during the school day. The Student Council is hoping to raise money to add to our plans for a relaxing sensory garden that will benefit all of our children. Pupils are asked to bring in one item (or more!) that could be sold at the bake sale e.g. cupcakes, rice krispie buns, etc. Any homemade items must be accompanied by a list of ingredients and product names used so that our pupils with allergies can safely enjoy the bake sale too. Anything containing peanuts, nut products or kiwi should not be sent in.
Sponsored Walk
The children have been given sponsorship sheets for our sponsored walk on Tuesday. We would ask for all sheets to be returned by next Friday, please. The pupils have asked that we raise money for playground games that they can use during breaktimes on the yard. As always, the children are invited to dress up on the day of the walk! We hope to raise enough to purchase some lovely, fun games and activities!
Active Week
We have a very busy week ahead of us next week! The children will participate in lots of fun sporting events, beginning on Monday. We have novelty races, table tennis, a football tournament, parachute games, yoga, dance, mindfulness and more! Please ensure your child has sunscreen on before coming to school and a refillable bottle of water.
School Tour
Reminder: In keeping with our active theme, the school will travel to DCU on Friday, June 23rd for a day of sporty fun. All pupils from Junior Infants to 6th Class will participate and we will return to the school at approximately 3.15pm.
Sports Day Reminder
School Fitness Ireland will join us for our Sports Day on Wednesday, June 28th to do some coaching and activities with all of our pupils. We have a great day planned, including football and hockey matches, parachute games, playground games, kickboxing, football skills, tug-o-war, gymnastics, and more! All activities will be catered to class level. All classes will have a water fight at the end of their day so please send in a change of clothes and a towel with your child! If your child would prefer not to participate in the water fight they are welcome to just watch.
Parents are welcome to join us from 11am. We will have an ice-cream van arriving at around noon that will provide ice-cream to all of our pupils. You are welcome to bring cash if you would like to purchase ice-cream yourself or for your non school going children.
Incoming Junior Infants
Incoming Junior Infants who have been offered a place for the 2023/2024 school year are invited with their grown up to a welcome day on Thursday, June 22nd at 1.30pm. They will meet their new teacher, Ms. Foley, and have a look around their classroom and the school.
6th Class Graduation
The 6th Class graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 27th at 11am in St. Canice's Church next to the school. Parents of 6th class pupils are invited to attend both the ceremony and the tea and coffee reception back at the school afterward.
Class Transitions
The pupils from Junior Infants to 5th Class will spend some time with their new teacher in their new classroom before the end of the school year. This will hopefully alleviate any anxiety they may have about the transition to a new class setup in September.
